My name is Anne and I live in Glenview, Illinois.

When I was in the 8th grade, my history teacher told the class that civilization was descending into The Next Dark Age.  I have begun to suspect that he was correct, hence the name of the blog.

I write about volunteering and philanthropic efforts in my community.  Once upon a time, I would journal all the books I read and crafty things I made (such as they are).  I don’t have a whole lot of time for that any more.  The journaling, not the reading.  There will be plenty about travel and as well as things I enjoy online.

I share a house with my mother, two dogs and two African Grey parrots.
